Jonathan Fitas — Composer & Immersive Artist
Born in 1991, Jonathan Fitas began his musical path as a violinist before turning to composition. Early on, he became known for his work in advertising for brands such as Hugo Boss, La SPA, Asics, Sidaction, Alima, Rochas, Caisse d'Épargne, Sisley and Withings — often working with director Théo Gottlieb, whose emotionally driven approach matched Jonathan's own. He soon moved into film scoring, with his first notable work being No Limits (2015), a documentary about Paralympic champion Alessandro Zanardi. He later composed for the short film Ailleurs (2020), featuring Raphaël Quenard, and for Kin Tout est Vie (2021), an intimate portrait of the artist Damso.
In 2021, he released his debut EP Beyond the Loop on Naïve Records, becoming one of the label's first French neoclassical signings. Apple Music described it as "a beautifully conceived collection of magical, mesmerizing soundscapes." Nagamag praised its "rich electronic textures," while Les Oreilles Curieuses wrote that Jonathan's work "carries the influence of Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds, delivering a debut EP that is both captivating and rich in emotion." Quai Baco noted he was "a talent to watch in the French neoclassical scene."
His immersive art work expanded his international presence. Shortly after the opening of Atelier des Lumières in Paris, his music was featured in landmark shows such as Life & Chaos (2019) and Verse (2019), establishing him as a pioneer in composing for immersive art thanks to his refined sense of spatial sound. His work continued with Verse at Infinity des Lumières in Dubai (2020), followed by Horizon and New Land at OASIS Immersion in Montreal (2022). That same year, he was selected as one of the leading artists of Noor Riyadh for IMPULSE, an audiovisual collaboration with Roman Hill.
In 2025, he released Leap of Faith, published by his label Maison Mujō in partnership with Whales Records, the label founded by pianist Julien Marchal, and strongly supported by Apple Music. That same year, he composed the original soundtrack for the ARTE series Origines and produced Maison Mujō's first music video project, Radiance — directed by Théo Gottlieb and recipient of several major awards.
By now, his catalogue has surpassed 1.2 million streams across Asia and the US, with strong audiences in Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Los Angeles and New York — driven by works such as Drifting, Ingenuous, Inside and Tender, which helped establish his cinematic and contemplative identity for a global audience.
In 2026, he turns inward with A Quiet Place — an intimate EP of five short pieces for violin and piano, stripped of synths and layers, capturing the fragile threshold between wakefulness and sleep.
Alongside his personal projects, Jonathan supports other musicians and visual creators in shaping their artistic identity. Based in Normandy, he founded Maison Mujō as a space rooted in his core values — animal protection, preservation of nature, and creating art in a peaceful environment — with the long-term aim of opening an artist residency in 2027.

Impulse (2022)

Curator Dorothy Di Stefano reached out to Jonathan Fitas in early 2022, inviting him and Roman Hill to take part in Noor Riyadh 2022 after noticing their work Life & Chaos. For King Abdullah Park — one of Riyadh's largest and most beautiful parks — they conceived a complete scenography: a curved screen 20 metres wide and 3 metres high, flanked by two rows of L-Acoustics speakers for pristine sound. Roman and Jonathan both insisted on showing the piece in a park rather than an indoor venue, to reach a far wider audience less familiar with this kind of work; over the festival it drew high praise. The music is a continuous fifteen-minute piece, moving from lush evolving strings to morphing glissandos and deep textural rhythms. As always with Roman's work, it carries his distinctive macro footage to express the impulse — from the creation of matter to the emergence of life.

Pour le King Abdullah Park — l'un des plus grands et beaux parcs de Riyadh — ils conçoivent une scénographie complète : un dispositif d'écrans incurvés de 20 m de large et 3 m de haut, encadré de deux rangées d'enceintes L-Acoustics pour un son d'une grande pureté. Roman et Jonathan tiennent à présenter la pièce dans un parc plutôt qu'en salle, afin de toucher un public bien plus large, peu familier de ce type de création ; le temps du festival, l'œuvre est saluée. La musique est une pièce continue de quinze minutes, passant de cordes luxuriantes et évolutives à des glissandos mouvants et de profonds rythmes texturaux. Comme toujours chez Roman, elle s'accompagne de ses images macro caractéristiques pour exprimer l'impulsion — de la création de la matière à l'émergence de la vie.

In 2021, Jonathan Fitas asked Alex Le Guillou to direct a music video for his track Ingenuous. Le Guillou proposed folding the piece into his Artificial Visions — a series exploring the ties between nature, technology and perception. The video was warmly received and won several awards, catching the eye of Oasis Immersion, the largest immersive-art venue in Canada, in Montréal, who wanted to adapt it. The adaptation became New Land, an electronic remix of Ingenuous that lends the original a wider dynamic and lyrical range, with greater shifts in intensity and instrumentation. Presented in the venue's largest hall.

On the strength of New Land's reception at Oasis Immersion, Alex Le Guillou and Jonathan Fitas were offered a second hall for a new piece. In a matter of days they created Horizon — a striking work in which a single line unfurls into billions of particles before resolving back into a line. Fitas's score is lyrical, narrative and emotional: string textures, percussion and a synth that unfold progressively as the visuals expand. It was a clear success both online and on site, and was staged several times — in Oasis Immersion's best-of cycles, and in 2024 at the Hangar Y near Meudon, the new art space opened at the initiative of Art Explora.

Life & Chaos was presented at the Atelier des Lumières for the Immersive Art Festival led by Michaël Couzigou, then director of the venue. Jonathan Fitas scored the piece by Paul Mignot and Roman Hill, conceived to set the audience in motion through the vast hall and break its static spell — splitting the room in two: a living, structured world on one side, an infernal, chaotic one on the other. Roman Hill's imagery comes from chemical reactions filmed at a microscopic scale, rendering macroscopic events such as the birth of a star. The voice of Benoît Allemane — the French voice of Morgan Freeman — invites the spectator to choose between life and chaos. The challenge was a single score that holds both atmospheres at once: epic, terrifying and cosmic yet radiant, never dark. It rests on deep synth textures played on the Seaboard RISE, whose MPE glides bend and slide like strings.

Verse is the first immersive exhibition Jonathan Fitas scored. Thomas Vanz invited him to build an immersive score — a string quartet, piano, synthesizers and sound design — to accompany a visual depiction of space made from macro chemical reactions and CGI, tracing an interstellar journey through a black hole. The piece ran in two forms: a fifteen-minute version on a curved immersive screen in the studio, and a five-minute version for the main hall of the Atelier des Lumières — a former 19th-century iron foundry of roughly 3,300 m² with walls rising to 10 metres, covered by some 140 laser projectors and a spatialized sound system. Fitas's score was mixed for full surround in the main hall. Across its run the exhibition was seen by more than two million visitors, and travelled to Infinity des Lumières in Dubai. The music was released as a recording on streaming platforms. It was later reworked by Thomas Vanz, who removed Jonathan Fitas's contributions entirely by unilateral decision.

L'œuvre exista sous deux formes : une version de quinze minutes sur écran immersif incurvé au studio, et une version de cinq minutes pour la grande halle de l'Atelier des Lumières — ancienne fonderie du XIXᵉ siècle d'environ 3 300 m², aux murs s'élevant à 10 mètres, couverte par quelque 140 vidéoprojecteurs laser et un système de son spatialisé. La partition de Fitas fut mixée en surround complet pour la grande halle. Au fil de son exploitation, l'exposition fut vue par plus de deux millions de visiteurs, et présentée à Infinity des Lumières à Dubaï. La musique parut sous forme d'enregistrement sur les plateformes de streaming. Elle fut ensuite retravaillée par Thomas Vanz, qui retira entièrement les contributions de Jonathan Fitas de sa propre décision unilatérale.

Origines – A Tale of Light is a science documentary series co-produced by ARTE and IKO (2025), directed by Roman Hill and written by astrophysicist David Elbaz, Thomas Cadène and Corentin Duval. The story takes a singular stance: Light itself speaks, telling how — from the Big Bang to us — it became the architect of the cosmos and the source of life. Carried by Roman Hill's imagery — plays of matter and light conceived as a visual language in their own right — the series blends rigorous science with poetic writing. Eight episodes of about 8 minutes aired on ARTE (late 2025), with a 57-minute cinema version.
Origines – Un conte de la lumière est une série documentaire de vulgarisation scientifique coproduite par ARTE et IKO (2025), réalisée par Roman Hill et écrite par l'astrophysicien David Elbaz, Thomas Cadène et Corentin Duval. Le récit adopte un parti pris singulier : c'est la Lumière elle-même qui prend la parole pour raconter comment, du Big Bang jusqu'à nous, elle est devenue l'architecte du cosmos et la source du vivant. SPA (2021)

For La SPA, Jonathan Fitas wrote the music for Le Survivant, an awareness film against animal abandonment directed by Ben Lacour (produced by BIRTH, agency WNP). The film follows the testimony of a “survivor” that the edit first leads you to take for a human marked by post-traumatic stress — flashbacks included — before revealing it is in fact the dog, suffering from post-abandonment syndrome. Shot during lockdown in a “family made” style (Ben Lacour surrounded by his children, his close ones and his dog), the short stages the anguish and wandering of abandoned animals. Fitas's score carries this narrative reversal and the emotional weight of the story. The music was later reused in several La SPA spots.
Pour La SPA, Jonathan Fitas signe la musique du Survivant, film de sensibilisation contre l'abandon animal réalisé par Ben Lacour (production BIRTH, agence WNP). Le film suit le témoignage d'un « survivant » que le montage laisse d'abord prendre pour un humain marqué par un stress post-traumatique — flashbacks à l'appui — avant de révéler qu'il s'agit en réalité du chien, victime d'un syndrome post-abandon. For the Parisian watchmaker Baltic, Jonathan Fitas composed the music for Forged in Time, a film devoted to the Aquascaphe Bronze and directed by Antoine Paï. The film follows the bronze patina as it transforms over time, making each watch unique on the wrist of its wearer. The score draws on the blazing energy of the forge at work: a rhythmic sound design answers the hammering of iron and gives the soundtrack a raw character.
Pour la marque horlogère parisienne Baltic, Jonathan Fitas compose la musique de Forged in Time, film consacré à l'Aquascaphe Bronze et réalisé par Antoine Paï. Le film suit la patine du bronze qui se transforme au fil du temps, rendant chaque montre unique au poignet de celui qui la porte. No Limits – Impossible Is Just a Word (2015) is Jonathan Fitas's first major work of scoring to picture, for which he wrote the original music — composed, arranged and mixed. Directed by Tim Hahne for STEREOSCREEN, the documentary follows former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi who, after losing both legs in a near-fatal crash in 2001, takes on the 24 Hours of Spa alongside Timo Glock and Bruno Spengler — a first for a disabled driver competing at this level against able-bodied rivals. Fitas's score follows this arc of resilience, between mechanical tension and emotional sweep, laying the foundations of the cinematic writing he would go on to develop.
No Limits – Impossible Is Just a Word (2015) est le premier grand travail de composition à l'image de Jonathan Fitas, dont il signe la musique originale — composée, arrangée et mixée. Réalisé par Tim Hahne pour STEREOSCREEN, ce documentaire suit l'ancien pilote de Formule 1 Alex Zanardi, qui, après avoir perdu ses deux jambes dans un accident presque fatal en 2001, s'attaque aux 24 Heures de Spa aux côtés de Timo Glock et Bruno Spengler — une première pour un pilote handicapé engagé à ce niveau face à des concurrents valides. Shuta and Jonathan first met during Noor Riyadh 2022 Festival in Saudi Arabia, where both were composing music for separate immersive artworks. Their shared sensitivity for atmospheric and introspective sound led to a musical connection.
Adding layered modular synths, processed guitars, as well as a vibrant and wide mix, the track expands the emotional horizon of the original while preserving its quiet & peaceful essence.
